Cape Fear Dog Training Club Trial, Feb 21-22, 2015 - Pictures

Before going in the ring
Mia and I took another shot at Utility A Obedience at the Cape Fear Dog Training Club Trial, Feb 21-22, 2015 in Fayetteville, NC.  Once again, she came so, so close to Qing both days.  On Saturday, she was doing great until the very last jump.  For some reason, she turned and headed towards the glove she had retrieved earlier in our run.  On Sunday, she got very distracted by a dog drinking water during the signal exercise and missed her sit signal.  She also didn't go out far enough on her second go-out resulting in an NQ on that exercise.  I tend to be very critical of myself and while we definitely have areas to improve on, I was still very proud of us.  I felt like we looked pretty good together and seemed to be working as a team.  These are pictures from our run Sunday taken by Judi Nicholson...video of our runs will be posted next.

Happy Trails

I love being able to take Mia places where she can run off leash.  Unfortunately, many of those places are hard to find.  There is a wonderful park just outside of Wilmington that we go to whenever we have time.  Mia has so much fun running on the trails...if we lived closer, I would probably take her everyday.

Another Double Q

Proud of Miss Mia - double Q'd Friday in Excellent Standard for her 2nd leg and her first Master Jumpers leg at the Tarheel Weimaraner Club Trial in Sanford, NC.  We also got a T2B (Time 2 Beat) Q so I guess we really triple Q'd.  This is the trial our local club hosts every year but due to varying circumstances, we have never been able to compete in it.  Great start to our weekend!

Summer = Pack Walks

I love being off work during the summer.  It gives me so much more time to spend with my girl.  And one of our favorite things - Thursday morning pack walks.

A tired weim is a happy weim...and exhausted one is even better :)

Mia earns her Open Agility Jumpers Title!

I am thrilled to announce Mia earned her 3rd OAJ (open agility jumpers leg) and OAJ title with a first place at the Charlotte Dog Training Club Agility Trial in Concord, NC.  She also earned her first excellent jumpers leg with a first place!  We came very close to qualifying on our other runs but Miss Mia is really fast and her handler (me) had some errors that pulled her off jumps.  At the excellent level, no mistakes are allowed which can be difficult when running a fast dog with a lot of drive.  I have to cue Mia right on time: a second too early, and I pull her off course; a second too late and she's off to run her own course :)  Even though we had some mistakes, we also had a ton of fun and I can't wait to do it again!  Pictures below are all from Phyllis Ensley Photography.

February Beach Day

We've had a fairly cold winter thus far so when I saw temperatures were going to be in the 60's this weekend, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take Mia to one of our favorite places - the beach!!  Ahhh...vitamin D therapy :)

Snow??? In Wilmington???

Yup, even on the southeastern coast of North Carolina, we still get snow every now and then.  We've had a couple of bad winter storms this year that resulted in mostly ice - not fun at all.  During the lastest storm, we lost power for several days - and it was cold!  Fortunately, Mia works as my own personal electric blanket so we stayed warm at night.

Look closely - there's a weimaraner in there somewhere ;)

Merry Christmas!

We hope you've had a wonderful holiday!  We sure did! :)
Santa Paws was very good to Mia.  After all, she was a very good girl this year.

Time for a romp in the yard

All of this celebrating just wears the princess out :)
